Research Project Title
Process-based Simulation Library (SALMO-OO) for Lake Ecosystems
Description
Investigation of lake ecosystem dynamics via the development of an object-oriented, process-based model library in Java. The model library focuses on phytoplankton growth dynamics and has been tested for two German lakes of varying trophic states. SALMO-OO is the core model used in my project and has been converted to Java to comply with object-oriented modeling techniques. This creates a more flexible and adaptable tool then using conventional programming methods. Further work to be completed includes a library for zooplankton grazing dynamics.
